The Latest Edition project with Navigator North has acted as a springboard for my further development as an artist. Following the launch exhibition at Festival of Thrift, I entered my work ‘A Drop in the Ocean’ into The Universal Sea: Pure or Plastic?!, a EU-funded project which links scientific findings with artistic creations offering a new perspective on this urgent topic. The exhibition was a worldwide open call and although I did not make the final five for the Europe wide tour, my work was selected as one of the top 100 proposals. These are on display at, The Centre for Polish Sculpture in Oronsko, Poland from April.

The six artist involved in the Latest Editions project and the lovely ladies from Navigator North met this morning for an early start, collecting all the work in preparation for the first of three exhibitions following on from the success of the Pavilion exhibition at the Festival of Thrift back in September 2017.
Once the van was packed with all the work it was a quick trip over to Palace Arts in Redcar to set up the show. It’s was a typical grey overcast January day but the fresh beach air and a quick cup of coffee provided by the lovely Gallery owner Mark Hickson set us all up for a day of decision making and show preparation.
The bright and spacious Gallery is situated on Redcar seafront and has a wonderful view over the sea, and despite the cloudy start we did spot one brave surfer!
After the quick coffee and new year catch up the artists soon set to work allocating spaces and organising work that needed to be done to get this first exhibition ready for Saturdays opening and preview...
As part of the Latest Edition project with Navigator North the group of artists visited Greenfield Arts in Newton Aycliffe.
Greenfield Arts is a creative hub used by the local community and artists to develop their creative practice. Our challenge for today was to design ideas for the merchandise that will be sold alongside the Limited Edition show at the Festival of Thrift, and other venues including Hartlepool Art Gallery, Palace Arts in Redcar and the Witham Gallery in Barnard Castle
We eagerly met up in an amazing space carpeted with fake grass and decorated with glowing cloud lighting. One of our mentor artists Alex Sickling arrived this morning with an excellent vegan Banana Loaf which got the day off to a great start. We were introduced to the centre by co-ordinator Sophie Lewis who explained to us the Greenfield’s ethos and purpose. There are excellent facilities for the community and the school next door to use. We were given a guided tour and saw some great drawing in the galle...
